Electrical and Electronic Engineering

This program's official undergraduate application materials and selection-process pages do not list a portfolio or work-sample submission for Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Admission emphasis is on grades, the UCAS personal statement, and the ESAT instead.

Imperial says the personal statement is a really important part of the UCAS application and uses it to judge subject motivation, fit for the course, and how studies and experiences have prepared the applicant. For 2027 entry, UCAS personal statements are structured around why you want the course, how your studies prepared you, and what relevant experiences outside education helped prepare you.

Academics are a decisive filter. Imperial's selection process says applications are first checked against minimum entry requirements, and the course page sets very high subject-specific standards, including Mathematics and Physics. For A-levels the course requires A*A*A or A*AAA overall, with A* in Mathematics and strong Physics performance; Further Mathematics is strongly encouraged.

This course requires the Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT), and Imperial says admissions-test scores are considered alongside the UCAS application, including the personal statement, when deciding whether to invite applicants to interview or make offers. English-language test scores also matter where applicable because applicants must meet Imperial's English-language requirement.
