University of Toronto's Computer Science MSc is a research-based master's admission process that evaluates applications holistically, with clear emphasis on strong academics and a research-focused statement of purpose. Academics & GPAHigh

Academic record is a core admissions factor. The MSc requires an appropriate bachelor's degree, at least B+ standing, and preference goes to applicants from computer science or closely related fields. For applicants without a CS degree, the department specifically looks for math background plus upper-level algorithms and systems preparation.

How to stand out
→Use the statement of purpose to show a precise research fit with U of T faculty and explain your past research contributions concretely.
→Make sure your transcript clearly shows strong upper-level CS fundamentals, especially algorithms, systems, and core math.
→If you have publications, research projects, or substantial technical work, present them clearly in the CV because there is no separate portfolio.
→Meet or exceed the published English-language minimums early; treat GRE as optional evidence rather than a substitute for weaker grades or fit.
→If your degree is not in computer science, document calculus, linear algebra, probability, algorithms, and systems coursework explicitly.
